Our Story
The Nelson and area peer-led infertility support group was started in 2013 by Nelson resident, Misha Graves. Misha has struggled with infertility for nearly 7 years and, like many, has often felt isolated, and at times stigmatized, by her infertility.
After being inspired by another's story of infertility, documented in the book Silent Sorority, Misha decided to start this peer support group in an effort to connect with others who are on a similar journey, and create a community of support for those who too have felt alone, misunderstood, and unsure of where to turn for help.
Group Overview
This peer-led support group is for women and couples living in or near Nelson, BC who are facing infertility, secondary infertility, assisted conception, and/or recurrent pregnancy loss. Meetings serve to provide a safe and caring environment for people who are struggling with infertility to connect with and receive support from others who are having similar experiences. For many, this group will offer an opportunity to not only share knowledge and insights, as well as dilemmas and frustrations, but also to form lasting bonds and friendships. The group meets on the last Wednesday of each month at Kalein Hospice Centre from 7:00-9:00 p.m. For more information, please contact us by email at [email protected], or by using the contact form on this website.
